Frequently Asked Questions

For Private Bookings

Weddings, Corporate & Private Parties

Everything you need to know about booking a Scottish Pizza Co popup, from quotes and set-up to dietary needs and what happens on the day.

Booking & pricing

How do I get a quote?

Start with our pricing estimator. It gives you a guide price for your package in a couple of minutes. Then email bookings@scottishpizza.co with your date, venue, guest numbers, the time you want service to start, and what the event is — a wedding, a birthday party, or whatever you're celebrating — and we'll send you a confirmed quote with a full breakdown. Dietary requirements aren't needed right from the get-go.

Can we taste your food first?

Yes. We offer tastings, or you can come along to one of our public events. In the off-season, you can come to the farm and try our food.

What's included in the price?

Our prices for private bookings include our Pete's Pop-Up Station, chefs and serving staff, and quality paper plates and napkins. Cutlery is included when you need it — mainly for sides, salads and cheesecakes — since pizza doesn't usually need it. Travel is included too, unless your venue is outside our usual zones. If it is, we'll make that clear on your quote.

How many pizzas do we need?

As a rule of thumb, plan for one pizza per guest. If you're serving plenty of other food on the day, you can book fewer, so just let us know what else is on and we'll help you get the numbers right.

Is there a minimum booking?

For outdoor pop-up events, the minimum is 50 pizzas. Smaller pop-ups indoors are available from 25 pizzas — usually more local, intimate, family-style events. From 50 pizzas up, we can do indoor or outdoor. You'll find all the tiers and prices on our pricing estimator.

Do you take a deposit?

Yes. A deposit secures your date: 25% if you're booking for this year, or 10% if you're booking for next year or beyond. The balance is due two weeks before your event.

Can we change our guest numbers after booking?

Book your minimum, and you can increase guest numbers closer to the date. You can't decrease once you're booked.

What's your cancellation policy?

Your deposit is non-refundable. If you need to change the date, you can do that free of charge with at least two weeks' notice, as long as we have an alternative date available.

When do we choose our menu?

You can choose your menu at any time, as long as it's before two weeks out. We need at least one week's notice, but ideally two weeks. Margherita and Pepperoni are our crowd-pleasing staples, and you pick two more toppings from our pizza menu. Our Scottish Italian (haggis, whisky cream sauce and mozzarella) is always a party favourite.

Is table service available?

We don't do plated service. Shuffling hot pizzas indoors to a buffet table is included at no extra cost. Sit-down table service — where guests are seated for a meal and we bring pizza to the tables for people to help themselves — is £4 per person. That's most often for weddings; corporate sit-down meals are unusual for us.

Which areas do you cover?

Our teams are based in Angus, Aberdeenshire, North Lanarkshire and Central Scotland, so we can reach the vast majority of Scotland. If your venue is outside our usual zones, there may be an extra travel cost. Send us the venue postcode and we'll confirm.

Can you come to a public event where guests pay on the day?

Yes, but it works differently. Public and pay-on-the-day events (fairs, markets, street food and so on) don't use our private booking estimator. Get in touch with the details and we'll talk it through case by case.

Set-up & venue

Can you cater indoors and outdoors?

Yes — we can cook outdoors or indoors. Our set-up works either way. Most of the time we're outdoors, but we can also offer indoors when the facilities are suitable. We bring our full pizza-oven popup set-up whether you're in a garden, a field, a marquee or a venue hall.

How much space do you need?

Outdoors, the standard set-up needs a fairly flat area of about 3 × 3 metres. For larger events where there's more food on offer, we use about 4.5 × 3 metres. Larger weddings need both — the 3 × 3 and the 4.5 × 3 metre set-ups. Grass or patio are both absolutely fine.

Indoors, for smaller events we only need a two-metre workbench. Where there's the room, we usually like to bring two three-metre telescopic tables, so we need about 3 × 2 metres of space.

Do you need parking or vehicle access?

We need to be able to drive close to the set-up spot to unload. Once we're unloaded, we can park somewhere else if needed. If access at your venue is tricky or busy, just mention it when you book.

For weddings — which in Scotland are indoors because of the rain, though outdoor spaces can still be used alongside — it's really important that our van can stay parked very close to where the gazebo is set up. We use it as storage as well as for unloading, and that closeness to where we're cooking matters a lot.

What do you need from the venue?

Outdoors, nothing — no electricity or water. We bring everything ourselves and cook on gas-powered ovens.

Indoors, we don't need any special kind of electrics for our ovens. Depending on the size of the event we use one or two indoor ovens, and they plug into a normal three-pin UK plug socket.

If pizza is being served indoors — whether we're cooking outdoors or indoors — the venue can provide their own buffet table, or we can bring one.

Can we book a small party outdoors?

Our minimum for cooking outdoors is 50 pizzas. For smaller bookings we can do it, but we usually only do that indoors. You can book a small party outdoors, but the minimum cost will be for fifty pizzas.

Do you offer BBQ?

Yes. The barbecue itself can only be set up outdoors, but your event doesn't have to be outdoors — guests can come outside, grab their food, and enjoy the party wherever they want. On our full-day package you can have an evening BBQ, or swap things around and have BBQ as the main with pizza in the evening. See the pricing estimator for the options.

Food & dietary needs

Do you offer gluten-free pizza?

We use gluten-free flour and gluten-free dough when you tell us how many you need in advance — that's included. We make our own gluten-free dough as well. We can't call them gluten-free pizzas, though. We use the same ovens and preparation facilities, and we don't have tight controls over wheat in the air or flour elsewhere, so there is a risk of flour crossover.

Is your pizza suitable for coeliacs?

We're sorry, but no. All our pizzas are cooked in the same ovens, so we can't make pizza that's safe for guests with coeliac disease. We'd rather be honest with you than take any chances.

Do you cater for vegetarians and vegans?

Yes. There are vegetarian options on our pizza menu, and we can bring vegan cheese. Vegan guests just need to ask the team on the day and we'll make one up for them.

For weddings with table service, vegetarians and vegans need to pre-order their options so we know where they're sitting and can bring them their own pizza to the table, rather than as part of the buffet-style rounds.

What about other allergies or intolerances?

Please let us know as early as you can. We've made plenty of tweaks for guests over the years, from onion- and garlic-free pizzas to dairy-free cheese, and we'll always tell you honestly what's possible with our menu.

Do you have a children's menu?

We don't have a separate children's menu. A lot of young people get put off by the quality of pizza they usually get — what we've found is they love ours, and they're more likely to try different flavours because of it. Very young guests tend to go for the Margherita more often, and half a pizza is usually fine when you're working out how much they need. Include them in your numbers when you book and we'll help you get the quantity right.

What if there's food left at the end?

If we have any dough left over, we'll stretch, top and cook it, then box it up for people to grab later in the evening, or to take home. Pizzas going home aren't cut — we keep them boxed up whole so you can reheat them that evening or the next day. Heat the oven to full blast, pop the pizza in, and when the cheese starts bubbling, it's ready to come out and eat.

On the day

How does service work?

Most of the time we set up our Pete's Pop-Up Station outdoors, stretch, top and cook pizzas fresh, slice them, and serve buffet-style on wooden platters — grab a plate, grab a napkin, and grab and mingle.

In advance we look at the weather, and we usually know beforehand if it's going to be bad. We can prepare in one of two ways: shuffle pizzas in and out with us, which works fine; or flick to cooking indoors with our indoor ovens. Sporadic rain is different — there's not much we can do in preparation for that; we just quickly flip to serving pizzas indoors if it happens.

If guests are sitting down for a meal (usually a wedding; corporate sit-downs are rare for us), we can do table service at £4 per person: we don't plate up, we bring pizza to the tables in a few short rounds so everyone can help themselves to a mix of your chosen toppings, with sides and salads shared on the tables. Just moving pizzas indoors to a buffet table isn't charged as table service — that's included.

For bigger, faster-paced events where everyone needs feeding in a short window, we keep hot pizzas coming so guests can grab and go without a long queue. Plates and napkins are included either way. Cutlery comes with things like sides, salads and cheesecakes — pizza itself usually doesn't need it.

When do you arrive?

Arrival times really depend on the event, but our standard is 1.5 hours before the event starts — that gives us time to set up and get the ovens up to temperature. For weddings — including all-day and half-day weddings — we get there a lot earlier.

How long do you serve for?

For pizza, sides and salads — or just pizza — service is typically one to three hours. Anything up to around 50 pizzas — and up to about 80, or even 100 — we can usually do in a two-hour service. For 120 pizzas and above, it can be one to four hours.

Half-day and full-day weddings are different — for those, we're there for you for the length of the package, serving as the day needs.

For private events, people sometimes ask us to stay a bit longer — four or five hours on occasion. Depending on how much you've ordered, there may be an adjustment in price if you want us there beyond our standard service. We'll make that clear on your quote. We're quite flexible.

What if it rains?

Outdoor events go ahead. If you're worried about the weather, mention it when you book and we'll talk it through.

Extras

Can we add dessert?

Yes. Dessert, such as our build-your-own cheesecakes, is an optional extra. We can also offer an array of other desserts that are just as yummy — depending on what you're looking for, just get in touch. It's currently £7, £7.50 or £8 per guest for events in 2026, 2027 or 2028. See the pricing estimator for the price on your date.

Do you offer side salads, canapés, or an evening buffet?

Yes, we offer all that. You can add sides and salads, canapés and an evening buffet as packages, or pick and mix to suit your event. Use the pricing estimator to build your package and see prices.

What's the Simple evening option?

It's a lighter evening spread of high-quality food, served on biodegradable palm leaf platters. It's £6 less per person than our Standard or BBQ evening styles. With the Simple option, our team won't stay through to the end of the night.

What's your full-day package?

It's called Canapés, Main Meal (Pizza, Sides & Salads) & Evening Buffet, and it covers your guests from the drinks reception right through to the evening — ideal for weddings. We take care of everything with the full-day package — all the food, top to bottom. Pizza is the main by default, or we can switch the barbecue and pizza service — for example barbecue as the main with pizza in the evening — for the same package price. See the pricing estimator for details.
